Andrin is ten months old!

Andrin was ten months old yesterday! But it was not too good of day for everyone ... Andrin did not seem to get better on his antibiotics and I thus took him back to see the pediatrician. Well, his right ear was fine, but he has another infection in his left ear! They switched his antibiotics and we are crossing our fingers now. Also, Papi was home sick all day. He came down with the big brother of Mami's stomach flu Monday night and was vomiting all night long and in bed all day. Mami already was fearing that we might not be able to go camping this weekend because of Papi ... But it actually turns out that there is another reason why we cannot go to the North Umpqua ... there is a fire and the ranger advised us not to come because there is a lot of smoke in the air. Well, we are set on going camping and we will go to another camp ground ... Since we were at the pediatrician's office today, we also have Andrin's current weight: 21 pounds (9.5 kg)!

The pictures were taken on our air mattress that is on our back porch. It has been really hot here and we have been sleeping outside. We hit a record high yesterday with 106F (41C) .... and it also was hot today again!

Weekend at home

Andrin loves to push over little "towers" that we build for him and giggles and laughs every time.

Talking on the phone. I remember playing with the same FisherPrice toy phone when we were little. Some things just never change!

Oma will be proud that Mami finally got a decent broom! Andrin is enjoying it as well!

Andrin enjoys a day in his diapers and in front of the new fan (Clemens has been fighting getting a fan, but I did not give him the choice knowing that the temperatures will be really high).

We had a quiet weekend. Andrin enjoyed being around Mami and Papi so much and we spent lots of time outside in the pool (it is already hot and supposed to even get hotter tomorrow and on Wednesday). Andrin is getting more and more mobile, even though he does not crawl. Sometimes, we are not entirely sure how he gets to a desired thing, but he manages ...

No. 5

Well, what could that mean?
  • Andrin got his fifth tooth
  • Andrin needs on average five diaper changes a day
  • Clemens and I would like to have five children
  • Andrin eats five meals a day
  • Andrin needs five changes of clothes a day
  • Andrin loves Chanel No. 5
  • Andrin has his fifth ear infection
If you know us and Andrin well enough, you probably guessed the right answer ... Andrin has another ear infection. Super Papi suspected it all along since Andrin was sleeping so poorly. And today, it was confirmed by the pediatrician. Andrin is back on antibiotics and we are hoping that he gets better soon.

We were planning to go camping this weekend, since we cancelled last week because Andrin was not doing well then as well ... And now we decided not to go this weekend because Mami also did not feel too well with a stomach bug ... We are now hoping that everything will be fine and that we can go to the North Umpqua next weekend.

Let's go to the ball game

Yesterday, I experienced my first baseball game! My Papi had a barbecue from work and then we got to see the game. Well, a little bit of it since I got really tired and had to leave early ... But I really enjoyed the game and loved all the people singing and clapping. I joined them right away and clapped along with them.

Bravo

Well ... just watch and listen for yourself. I think we really were not imagining what he was saying ...

Family weekend

Can you see the frustration on his face ... whenever he tries to get closer to his car, he keeps moving away from it!

We had planned to go camping but since Andrin did not feel well, we decided to postpone our camping trip to next weekend. On Saturday, we had fun with our friends Becky and Beau and their family and went for a walk along the river. On Sunday, we first went cherry picking, then to our park (Fairmount park) where they had an opening celebration and free ice cream and music, and then on to our other park (Washburn park) where they have every Sunday night a concert. We had a lot of fun and Andrin did as well.

I am brushing my teeth now!

Since Andrin has quite a few teeth now and they seem to come up like crazy, we started brushing his teeth. He likes his special dinosaur toothbrush, even though he sometimes has a hard time determining which end should be in his mouth!

It is hot in Eugene!

The last couple days have been hot here in Eugene and we have been trying to stay cool. On top of it being outside hot, Andrin also had a fever yesterday. He is teething again and it seems like he now just gets fevers whenever he is teething. In anticipation of the hot weather, I went and bought a baby pool (it really is a baby pool ... it is small). I remember splashing in our pool when we were children and Andrin has been enjoying his pool.

Andrin's first bike ride

After Mami got me a new bike helmet (the other one is still too big for my small head), I was ready for my first bike ride. Papi installed the bike trailer and inflated the bike tires. He wanted to go for a jog and Mami and I planned to join him. Let me tell you, I do not like my bike helmet. I try to get it off, but that frustrates me even more. But as soon as the bike trailer starts moving, I usually forget about the helmet on my head. I enjoy looking at all the scenery flying by. Today, our ride was not too successful though. Papi must have inflated the tires too much, because about a block from home, there was a big bang and the tire was in pieces! Well, Mami and I turned around and Papi went on his jog by himself! Now, Papi has to fix the tire and we will give it another try. But so far, I really liked the bike trailer (and I hopefully will get used to the helmet as well).
