Our little Swiss Diplomat

Our little girl is already a Swiss diplomat! This past week, her babbling increased substantially and we were even able to make out some "real" words. Her first words were "Mama" and "Papa" and she used them in such a manner that we are not able to determine which one came first (even though Mami respective Papi claim secretly that she used their names first :). Another word that she has been using quite a lot, especially since she LOVES to eat is "ham, ham" for food.

But here she is, our little Swiss diplomat at the age of ten months through the lens of Opa ...

Did you notice that she is sitting right next to the cookies? She is not stupid, our little Swiss diplomat!

Engaging in her favorite past time activity ... eating!

"If they don't give me any more food, then I will just eat the ribbon!"

Opa Jumbo's glasses are really interesting. "Why is he just taking them off?"

How to make Andrin HAPPY

Today, we took advantage of the nice, sunny weather and went in the afternoon together to the local post office. We got a notice that there was a package waiting for us. Andrin rode his balancing bike and kept crashing and then demanding that Mami calls the ambulance. Usually, he did not need a lot of assistance, after all, he was the fire station bicycle ... At home, Mami got to preparing our dinner and suddenly heard distinct noises from the living room. She called down and asked Andrin what he was doing. He replied that he was opening the package. Well, he had already taken off all the paper but could not proceed because he needed a pair of scissors.
And this came out of his mouth when opened up the package: " Oooooh! Andrin is very happy! Mamai, Andrin is so happy!"

And this is what made our little boy so happy ....

 PUFFS!!!

Thanks so much to Mom and Dad for the wonderful presents! And by the way, Bigna got to taste some as well. There was a new kind that Andrin had not tasted before and he decided that he would stick with the old kind and that Bigna could take the new ones ...

I know, Mami has to give me a haircut soon ...

Update on Andrin

Today, we finally had an appointment with the pediatric Ear specialist. It took all our creativity to coax Andrin into allowing him to see his ear, but in the end, the basket with little toys did the trick. With that in eyesight, Andrin was absolutely still and the pediatrician was able to examine his ear. They also got the lab results back and we now know that Andrin has a viral infection. And this particular viral infection is known to be rather resistant to most traditional antibiotics. The pediatrician was happy to see that the new medication seems to work, but also warned us that it is quite possible that he will develop a resistance toward these medications as well. We have to return to the specialist in a week and until then, Andrin has to take about four different kind of medications: his antibiotics, ear drops, a nasal spray, and pain medication. We are crossing our fingers that he will be fine by then.

Christmas with grandparents

On December 26th, we celebrated Christmas together with Opa Jumbo and Opa and Oma at Opa Jumbo's house. When we told Andrin about it, he just insisted that he did not want to go swimming in the swimming pool. It was easy to reassure him that that would not happen. He is still under the weather and not himself. He responds well to the pain medication and his fever usually drops as well. But you can tell when the pain medication wears off. But he loved all the presents and playing with the grandparents. We had a wonderful lunch and enjoyed being together with family!

Andrin felt better in the morning and got right to playing with some of his new toys.
