Welcoming Meret Louise!

On Sunday, 11/11/2012 (no, it was not a scheduled birth:), we welcomed Meret Louise into our  family. She was born at 3.07 am after a quick labor. Weighting 2900g (6 pounds, 4 ounces) and 50 cm (19 inches) in length. Andrin and Bigna are happy to be cousins and Femeke and Clemens are proud aunt and uncle!

All the best wishes to the beautiful new family of Jorrit, Nicole & Meret!

Mami was wondering ...

Just a few days ago, I thought about Andrin's dish cleaning phase ... I meant to look up when he was so into washing dishes in our sink in Eugene. But Mami did not have enough time to look it up and to realize that little sister is stepping right into big brother's foot steps. She has been really into washing dishes lately (besides flooding the kitchen, of course:). Whenever I set foot into the kitchen to cook, she trails behind me and drags the chair in there and gets to work. Did you ever wonder where they pick up habits like that and why at a certain age? I did, for sure!

Fall weekend

Andrin and Mami were busy one naptime last week working on felted stones. It turned out that it is quite difficult for little four-year-old hands (it even was hard for Mami's old hands) and Andrin decided that it was more fun to make little worms. So we ended up with lots of little worms. But Andrin loved the feeling of the wool and the soap on his hands. Mami was surprised that he was hard at work for over a hour!

And this is Papa's way to show that he misses Eugene. If you know him, you know about his love for M&M's cookies from Market of Choice, but he occasionally enlarges that list to ... well ... doughnuts. And this was his project for the weekend. They tasted really well, but Papa decided that there is room for improvement. Does that mean that we get more of them?

And this is our little miss Bigna: Loving shoes and pointing out whenever she is putting on someone else's shoes. She started talking with saying "food" but that is not such a favorite word anymore. At the moment, she is really into "my". Mami will fold the wash and she will comment on every single piece who it belongs to.

And last, but not least ... Andrin has been really practicing his letters. He now even asks to do his homework from preschool himself and does not need to be reminded. And he is so proud when he recognizes one of the letters that he learned on the street, in a book ...

(Swiss) Halloween

Just to prove that even Swiss children are getting into the groove of Halloween. Oma and Opa opened the door for them. Andrin was too scared to go to the door, but looked out of the window.

Herbstmesse (autumn fair)

On Tuesday, we took our annual trip to our autumn fair. Like last year, Oma and Opa joined us. This year, Bigna also was into the rides and was happy when she was able to join the fun after her nap.

Riding the worm was also this year one of Andrin's favorites. Bigna joined the fun with Mami in tow.

So happy to sit in the front!

As you can see, it was beautiful weather, but really, really cold!

At the moment, Bigna is really into her Oma. At one point, she hurt herself and Mami tried to confront her and she just turned around and went to Oma ...

Papi joined us for lunch: sausages, corn, and more sausages.

In front of a new toystore, Andrin found this big playmobile fireman. He was so happy.

Another favorite: the fire truck.

Andrin and Oma on the carrousel. The carrousel is right in front of the big cathedral and the view is beautiful.

There was another chip and Mami was lucky to join Andrin on the second ride.

This was Andrin's comment: It is like flying like a hawk. Did you think that he was scared? no way!

Bigna is joining the fun after a nap in her stroller.

Bigna riding with Opa on the elephant.

At home, everyone was helping to chop the vegetables for the dinner.
