North Umpqua, Part I

We just returned from our ten day trip around Oregon. There are so many pictures, that I decided to make several blogs about the different stops along the way. We went to the North Umpqua, Crater Lake, East Lake, and then Bend. But let's start with the North Umpqua.
The North Umpqua is one of Papi's favorite spots. Even though the fishing is usually frustrating, Papi loves to go there. This time, he did not have as much time to fish, but he still did get some fishing done. We left Eugene on Sunday and found the perfect spot. Monday night, Andrin gave us a scare of our life by reaching into hot tea and burning his right hand. Even though we put cold water and everything on it, he had blisters by the second day. It really looked horrible. Of course we did not have any cell reception so that we had to wait until we got to Diamond Lake (on our way to Crater Lake) to talk to our pediatrician's nurse. She told us what we could do (which was not a lot). It was reassuring that Andrin was not complaining about any pain after the initial night, but we felt horrible.
This experience put a little hamper on our time at the North Umpqua, but we tried to enjoy it after that (always with the worries in the back of our head). We went to Tokatee Falls and enjoyed the view there and Andrin got a lot of time to swim in the river.

All ready to go ... and excited for his camping trip.

Playing with his truck and rocks.

Getting ready for our hike to Tokatee Falls.

Snack time at the end of the trail.

Andrin walked back the entire way on his own.

Papi retrieving the camera cap that Mami threw down the banister ...

"Fishing"

Enjoying the nice cold water.

Papi built some more fish. Andrin kept saying "good bye captain."

I mean he really went swimming ...

Fishing with the real rod. Whenever Clemens asked if he could go fishing, Andrin would respond with "no" and say that he wanted to go along as well.

Such a laugh made us feel a little bit better ...
