Chapel Ronchamp

On Saturday, Mami went with David and Nana to the chapel in Ronchamp, built by Corbusier. It was well worth the trip into France. Just this past April, they also opened the monastery built by Renzo Piano. We had a chat with a friendly nun and she allowed us to peak at the library and some of the common rooms. David then lead us on a search for some wineries for some wine tasting. He shared that this was by far his best birthday ever! Happy Birthday, David!

Our day started with a pick-nick right next to the Saturday market ...

Church door in Ronchamp.

Chapel by Corbusier.

The chapel has a big outside altar. I just loved the idea of them having sermons there and the people sitting/standing on the lawn in front of it.

The peace memorial.

We had a beautiful day with warm weather and some beautiful clouds.

The monastery by Renzo Piano. Right next to the chapel.

Lemon trees inside the monastery.

I just loved this statue of Mother Mary and Jesus. It was made completely out of rocks.
