During one afternoon snack, Andrin asked Mami for a Birä Glöggli (Pear bell). Mami had no idea what this means and Andrin introduced her to the craft of Birä Glöggli cutting. He had learned all about it at his daycare. And he will show you the proper way to eat it himself.

Creative Friday ...
Somehow, all of Mami's clients decided that they prefer to meet with her on Wednesday. That means that Mami has back to back sessions on Wednesday from 11.30 am until 7.00 pm, but nobody (yet) on Friday. This Friday, she took out the sewing machine (well, not exactly, as it is sitting conveniently already on a old sewing table (it was in the attic of Mami's parents and belonged to her great-grandmother who was a seamstress)), and got going. Andrin loved to get some new scarfs and a new messenger bag (from a tutorial from http://zaaberry.blogspot.com/2011/09/kids-messenger-bag-tutorial.html). Bigna also got a new bag, but it is still a little bit too big for her.
Let's paint the strawberries red!
The other day, Andrin and Mami had an interesting conversation:
Andrin: "Mami, can we paint the strawberries red? Is that a good idea?" (that being his favorite phrase at the moment).
Mami: "Why would you want to paint the strawberries?"
Andrin: "Because then we can eat them. You said that we can eat them when they are red? Is that a good idea?"
How much I love this logic!
It makes perfect sense to me!
And why not paint strawberries after we just painted some eggs?
Is that a good idea?

Visit with Götti Thomas
Andrin was very happy that after daycare on Wednesday, he was picked up by Papi AND Götti Thomas. They had a good visit while Mami finished up at work.
Summer is here!
For a short while, we are enjoying some summer weather. We had about 80°F yesterday and are expecting higher temperatures today (it is already 84°F/29°C at 2.00 pm). I am saying for a short while, because the weather is supposed to turn cold by ... tomorrow. Well, we took the chance and enjoyed the beautiful weather.
An afternoon in the park
On Tuesday, we spent a relaxing, fun, just playful afternoon in the park. We met with our friend and her newborn baby and then took our time making our way home. Several times, it looked like rain, but it turned out to stay dry until we made it home.

Never ending story ...
As some of you might now, Andrin has been struggling with ear infections since ... well, let's say ever! At the age of one year, he already had his first surgery and they put ear tubes in. We were really afraid of the surgery, but Andrin did amazing and it luckily was only an outpatient procedure. After this surgery, he did really well and had only one more ear infection which we could treat with ear drops (no antibiotics, yeah!). But then last fall, his tube in his left ear fell out. And that's when the troubles started again. We have not been good in keeping count of the ear infections that he has had since then, but there were about six of them. Andrin detects the beginning of an ear infection really early on and has been doing great in verbalizing it. But still ... And of course, he mostly had the ear infections in his left ear - that means the ear with no more tube.
Today, we had another appointment with the specialist. And we were confirmed in our suspicion what they would recommend ... Andrin will need to have another surgery. He was such a big trooper through the entire exam and sat quietly on my lab. Now, we are waiting to get an appointment for the surgery. They told us that there is a 2-3 week waiting list, but they want to operate him as quickly as possible. It will be another outpatient surgery, but Andrin will have to stay at home for about a week. They will insert another tube in his left ear, possibly replace the tube in the right ear (which has been there for almost three years now), and then also remove his palatine tonsils.
We will keep you posted on our never ending story ...
