Never ending story ...

As some of you might now, Andrin has been struggling with ear infections since ... well, let's say ever! At the age of one year, he already had his first surgery and they put ear tubes in. We were really afraid of the surgery, but Andrin did amazing and it luckily was only an outpatient procedure. After this surgery, he did really well and had only one more ear infection which we could treat with ear drops (no antibiotics, yeah!). But then last fall, his tube in his left ear fell out. And that's when the troubles started again. We have not been good in keeping count of the ear infections that he has had since then, but there were about six of them. Andrin detects the beginning of an ear infection really early on and has been doing great in verbalizing it. But still ... And of course, he mostly had the ear infections in his left ear - that means the ear with no more tube.
Today, we had another appointment with the specialist. And we were confirmed in our suspicion what they would recommend ... Andrin will need to have another surgery. He was such a big trooper through the entire exam and sat quietly on my lab. Now, we are waiting to get an appointment for the surgery. They told us that there is a 2-3 week waiting list, but they want to operate him as quickly as possible. It will be another outpatient surgery, but Andrin will have to stay at home for about a week. They will insert another tube in his left ear, possibly replace the tube in the right ear (which has been there for almost three years now), and then also remove his palatine tonsils.
We will keep you posted on our never ending story ...

I hope Andrin gets to feeling better soon!
